The countdown to the midterm elections has begun—and we are just two months away! Across the country, Leagues of Women Voters are gearing up for one of the most important moments in our democracy. This summer, League members have been busy registering voters, organizing candidate forums, and preparing to help our communities understand the propositions and issues that will appear on the ballot.
Now it’s our turn to step up. Voting matters—but democracy needs more than voters on Election Day. As League members, we have an opportunity to make a difference before, during, and even beyond Election Day. Here are three ways you can get involved:
1. Register Voters—Give Someone a Voice
Voter registration continues through October 5. Our League has nineteen registration tables where volunteers can help people register to vote.
Check the Volunteer Opportunities section of our member website and sign up. A few hours of your time could make the difference between someone sitting out an election and actively participating in our democracy.
2. Educate Voters—Help Them Know What’s On Their Ballot
Our What’s On My Ballot volunteers are preparing to give thirty one presentations throughout our community on the eight state propositions as well as local ballot measures. This is an exciting opportunity to help voters make informed decisions. We need presenters to share clear, nonpartisan information about the propositions. Four training sessions are available on our League website to help you get started.

3. Protect Voters—Make Sure Every Voice Can Be Heard
Election Protection is a national network of nonpartisan, nonprofit organizations dedicated to protecting voters and helping address problems that can arise at polling places.
Locally, Election Protection is looking for poll monitors. Monitors do not enter the polling place. Instead, they remain outside, observing and reporting problems, helping voters understand their rights, and making sure issues are reported and addressed. They are separate from official observers because they work in shifts and remain outside the 75-foot line.
This Is Democracy in Action:
- We often talk about defending democracy. These are the moments when we actually do it.
- When we register a voter, we expand participation.
- When we explain a ballot measure, we empower voters with information.
- When we protect voters at the polls, we help ensure that every eligible voice can be heard.
These may seem like small actions, but together they make a tremendous difference. I plan to participate in all three opportunities--registering voters, educating voters, and protecting voters. I hope you will join me.
Let’s make this election season a powerful demonstration of what League members can accomplish when we work together.

Voting Rights Organizations Seek to Enforce Injunction
Against Mail Voting Executive Order
August 26, 2026 | From the press release: "Voting rights organizations today [8/26/2026] supplemented the complaint in their lawsuit challenging President Trump’s executive order restricting mail voting to add claims against the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) newly-finalized mail ballot rule. The groups simultaneously asked a federal court to immediately block USPS from implementing that rule for the November midterm elections."
"The plaintiffs in this case, League of Women Voters of Massachusetts v. Trump, are the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts, League of Women Voters, Association of Americans Resident Overseas, U.S. Vote Foundation, OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. They are represented by the American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU of Massachusetts, Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law, Legal Defense Fund, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC, and LatinoJustice PRLDEF."

What's On My Ballot? | CALL FOR PRESENTERS
We are seeking individuals with public speaking or teaching experience to give our “What’s On My Ballot” presentation. These presentations will be given throughout our community to private groups and at the Pima County Libraries listed below.
Complete the form no later than Friday, September 11 to sign up for one of the mandatory training sessions. Locations and times for the training sessions are listed on the form.
| As the November election approaches, LWVSAZ is teaming up with the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Tucson to explain the 2026 ballot measures to the community in an easy to understand and nonpartisan format.

| "September 17th is designated as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787. It is a federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens since." Read more from PCC HERE.
